Pillones Waterfall and Stone Forest Full-Day Tour

At the previously agreed-upon time, we’ll begin our adventure with a pickup at your hotel in Arequipa’s historic center. The first stop on this trip is the town of Pampa de Arrieros, a very important stop for travelers arriving by train to the beautiful White City. We’ll make a stop in Pampa Cañahuas, where we’ll see vicuñas with Mount Misti in the background. We’ll then arrive in Patahuasi, where you can have breakfast or enjoy some Andean mate to help you acclimate. Be sure to bring warm clothing, as the weather is cold at this altitude (4,000 meters above sea level). We’ll begin a 20-minute descent to the Pillones Waterfall (which can also be viewed from above). We’ll need to carefully make our way down a rocky slope and walk along the riverbank before reaching the beautiful waterfall, where we’ll have 45 minutes to take as many photos as we’d like. At 10:30 a.m., we’ll set out on our expedition to the Imata Stone Forest, whose geological formations of water-eroded rock offer a landscape that’s out of this world. Then, at 12:30 p.m., we’ll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before returning to Arequipa, concluding our tour at 4:00 p.m. near the Plaza de Armas in the city center.
