CAÑÓN DEL COLCA FULL DAY

Day 1

Day 01: AREQUIPA - CAÑÓN DEL COLCA - AREQUIPA

At the scheduled time, we will begin our Colca tour, with our first stop at the Volcanoes Viewpoint, the highest point of the route. From here, we can admire several volcanoes, including Sabancaya, which is currently active, as well as Hualca Hualca, Chachani, Misti, and others. Next, we will head to Chivay, where we will enjoy a delicious breakfast before continuing to the Cruz del Cóndor Viewpoint. Here, we will witness the Colca Canyon in all its splendor and observe the majestic flight of the Andean condors. On our way back, we will make brief stops at Antahuilque and Huarapunko viewpoints, followed by a visit to Maca, where we will explore its church, main square, and optionally taste the Colca Sour, a drink made from a local fruit. We will then continue to Achoma, where a local family will welcome us for an immersive cultural experience. Depending on the season, we may take part in planting or harvesting local crops, dress in traditional Colca attire, and dance the Wititi, an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. We will also enjoy lunch with a view of the terraces before heading to the Chacapi hot springs in Yanque for a relaxing soak. Finally, we will make a short stop at the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve to observe South American camelids, especially vicuñas, before arriving in Arequipa at approximately 6:00 p.m.
