The Manu National Park covers 1,532,860 hectares and the Manu Reserved Zone another 260,000 hectares. Manu contains 13 different ecological zones ranging from 200m to 4000m altitude, meaning it has an incredible variety of flora and fauna. In 2000, almost 3,000 visitors entered the Manu Reserved Zone compared to 20,000 who visited the Puerto Maldonado area.

Day by day

Day 1
Our journey of experiences and adventure will begin by crossing “From the Andes to the Amazon”. Pick up at the hotel very early in the morning, we begin our trip by private minivan, ascending to the high mountain area at 4000 (meters above sea level). Our first stop, guided tour in Ninamarca, where you can photograph the pre-Inca cemetery, then we continue to the town of Paucartambo recognized by the UNWTO as “one of the best tourist towns in the World”, our guide will give you information about this charming town, We continue in our van, enjoying spectacular views of the biodiversity of Manu, we will descend the eastern slope of the Andes, we will travel through the cloud forest where the exuberant vegetation can be seen (ferns, orchids, bromeliads, etc.). During our walks you can see birds including tanagers, quetzals, swallows, toucans and brightly colored hummingbirds, as well as hawks and monkeys. Our main activity will be to find the national bird of Peru ( Rupícola peruviana ) in the San Pedro sector, we will continue our trip until we reach the town of Salvación where we will change the minivan for the 4x4 trucks where we will continue 2 more hours of travel until we reach the Dorado Lodge located (350 meters above sea level), where we will spend the night (double rooms with private bathroom). After dinner, your guide will brief you on the next day's activities. Night walk (Optional)
Day 2
Very early in the morning we will embark on our motor boat, we will sail on the upper Madre de Dios River, we will have breakfast on the boat while we go to the Limonal checkpoint, where we are welcomed by the park rangers and a brief information about the National Park of the Manu. Afterwards we will continue sailing along the Manu River for approx. 6 hours in the middle of immense trees listening to howls, bird sounds, etc. Depending on the climate we will have the possibility of observing the biodiversity of species of macaws, birds, eagles, mammals such as the jaguar (P anther onca ), capybaras, tapir, monkeys, etc. Reptiles such as 4 meter black caiman ( Melanosuchus niger ), white caiman ( Caiman crocodrylus ), anaconda ( Eunectes murinus ), taricayas ( Podocnemis unifilis ). In the afternoon we will arrive at the Matsiguenka House where we will spend 2 nights with the Matsiguenka families in double room bungalows with private or shared bathrooms.
Day 3
This day we will visit the famous lake "Cocha Salvador", we will navigate its waters in a rowing catamaran to observe the home of the giant otters, this Cocha Salvador is the highlight in the Manu National Park especially in the dry season, It is full of birds that nest and feed on herons, egrets, alligators, skimmers, species of monkeys that generally feed on exotic fruits. We will explore the trails walking in the primary forests of the Amazon rainforest, where the sensation is unique, because we are in an ecosystem that has remained unchanged since the formation of the Amazon. In the afternoon depending on the climate and time you will visit Lake Cocha Otorongo, from a 10 meter observation tower in the rainforest canopy overlooking the lake. Available for wildlife viewing. We spent the second night at Casa Matsiguenka.
Day 4
We will get up early to return, where we will sail for approximately 6 hours by boat along the Manu River, along the beaches we can once again observe more wildlife such as monkeys, alligators, woodpeckers, etc. Until we reach the Limonal checkpoint, we will make a stop to register our departure after having visited the Manu National Park Reserve Zone. We continue on our boat, on the way we will make a brief stop in the native community of Diamante to contribute to them by buying crafts, typical products, fish, manioc, and papaya. We continue by boat until we reach our lodge, before or after dinner we will take a night walk where we can find tarantulas, snakes, spiders, frogs, nocturnal birds, etc. Overnight at Dorado Lodge (double rooms with private bathrooms)
Day 5
Very early in the morning we will visit the parrot and macaw clay lick. It is a special place where you can see the natural spectacle of parrots, where they come down to eat clay that helps them with digestion, among the species we can see auroras, parakeets, parrots, the military macaw, blue-headed macaw, chestnut-fronted macaw, etc Bolivian macaws and scarlet macaws can be seen perching in the trees. After the activity we return to the lodge, have our breakfast and pack our things to return, we board the 4x4 trucks for a 2-hour tour, spotting flora and fauna and crossing rivers and streams that are part of the road, passing through indigenous villages until we reach In the Salvación population, we will change our truck for the minivan. On the way, you can visit the hummingbird and orchid garden, which are projects of the local people. We continue in our van, we will make a brief stop in the town of Pilcopata where we will contribute to the local people by buying the fruit juices and ice creams of each season (cupuaçu, buriti, pineapple, cocona, etc.). We board our van to return to Cusco, we will finish our adventure tired but happy and pleased to have visited the Lung of the World, leaving them at their respective hotels.
