Exclusive Manu Birdwatching Tour 4D/3N

We’ll start the day with an early breakfast, and then we’ll pick up our luggage to continue our journey to Cock of the Rock Lodge. Along the way, we’ll make several strategic stops to observe and photograph bird species native to the region. Upon arrival at the lodge, we’ll enjoy lunch and have some time to settle into our rooms and rest. Later, we’ll visit the hummingbird feeders in the garden, where we’ll be able to observe their fascinating movements and colors up close. In the afternoon, we’ll continue our birdwatching activities and visit the Andean Cock-of-the-Rock lek—a prime spot to witness the males’ spectacular courtship dance and capture excellent photo opportunities. As night falls, we’ll take a 25-minute van ride to search for nocturnal species, such as the Lyre-tailed Nightjar and the Rufescent Screech Owl. Finally, we’ll return to the lodge to enjoy dinner and rest surrounded by the sounds of the cloud forest.

We’ll start the morning with an early breakfast, and after packing our bags, we’ll set off for Machuwasi Lagoon. Along the way, we’ll make several stops to observe and photograph new species of birds that inhabit the cloud forest. Upon arriving at Atalaya, we’ll board a boat to sail to Cocha Machuwasi, an ideal natural setting for observing Amazonian birds. During the visit, we’ll be able to spot fascinating species such as the hoatzin, as well as other birds that find refuge among the vegetation surrounding the lagoon. Once this activity is over, we’ll continue our journey to Bio Manu Lodge, passing through the villages of Patria and Pilcopata. Upon arrival, we’ll check into our lodging, enjoy lunch, and have some time to rest. In the afternoon, we’ll explore the forest trails, a habitat that is home to a wide variety of birds. During the hike, we’ll look for species such as tanagers, flycatchers, swallows, jays, and oropendolas, among many others. At the end of the day, we’ll return to the lodge to relax, take a shower, and enjoy dinner, surrounded by the tranquility of the Amazonian wilderness.

After breakfast, we’ll visit the Inka Amazonia hummingbird garden, a prime spot for observing and photographing these fascinating birds. During the visit, we’ll have the opportunity to see various species of hummingbirds, such as Gould’s Jewelfront, as well as other birds native to the region. On the way back, we’ll enjoy our box lunch, and, weather permitting, we’ll take one last hike through the cloud forest. This activity will provide an excellent opportunity to spot new bird species and discover the natural richness of this ecosystem. Finally, we’ll continue our journey back to Cusco, traveling through the beautiful Andean landscapes. We’re scheduled to arrive around 5:00 p.m., bringing our birdwatching experience between the Andes and the Amazon to a close.
