Central Peru Birdwatching Tour 17D/16N

Today we will visit the Santa Eulalia Valley where we have a great variety of endemic species and rarities. For example: Great Inca Finch, Rusty Bellied Brush Finch, Bronze Tailed Comet, Rufous Breasted Warbling Finch, Black Necked Woodpecker, Andean Condor, Peruvian Pygmy Owl, Mourning Sierra Finch, Pied Crested Tit Tyrant, Montane Parakeet, Greenish Yellow Finch, Golden Grosbeak, Peruvian Sheartail, Oasis Hummingbird, Canyon Canastero, Ornate Tinamou, Black Chested Buzzard Eagle, Variable Hawk, Aplomado Falcon, Andean Flicker, White Browed Chat Tyrant, Rufous Chested Tanager and others. After birding, we will return to Santa Eulalia at the hotel. Night stay at hotel in Santa Eulalia after a day of birding in the valley.

This day we will leave very early to the high part by our vehicle approximately 3 hours where is Polylepis Forest, a good place to find some endemics such as White Cheeked Cotinga, Striated Earcreeper, Black Breasted Hillstar, Black Metaltail, Rusty Crowned Tit Spinetail, White Bellied Cinclodes, Junin Canastero, and others. Also possible: Gray Breasted Seed snipe, Rufous Breasted Seed Snipe, Puna Tinamou, Olivaceous Thornbill, White Fronted Ground Tyrant, Bright Yellow Finch, Diademed Sandpiper Plover, Punas Snipe, Slender Billed Miner, Black Siskin, Andean Condor, Cinereous Ground Tyrant, Andean Goose, Giant Coot, Crested Duck and more. Night stay at hotel in Concepcion or Huancayo after a day of birding and travel.

Today Will be visit the Huaytapallana and Pariahuanca valley where we Will trave by our vehicle aproximatle 3 hours where we Will get the birding place and there we´ll see the Endemics Species for Example: Black Specktacled Brush Finch, Junin Antpitta, Mantaro Wren, Mantaro Spinetai, Mantaro Thornbill, Cream Crested Spinetail, and Many other Species example: Scarlet Bellied Mountain Tanager, Rusty and Yellow Tanager, Blue Capped Tanager, Highland Elaenia, Tit Like Dacnis, Moustached Ploverpiercer, Tufted tit tyrant after birded retorn to Huaytapallana Pass where we chance t osee the Royal cinclodes and other speices the birds for example: Slender Billed Miner, Common Miner, Glacier Finch, Plumbeous Sierra Finch and many others after we Will retorn to Huacayo and Conception where spend the night at Hotel. After birding in Huaytapallana and Pariahuanca valleys, return to Huancayo or Concepcion for the night stay at hotel.

This day we travel way to Carrizales with stops in the way and look for same Endemic Species for Example: Jalca Tapaculo, Eye ringed Thistlitail, Junin Tapaculo, Fire Throated Metaltail, Creamy Crested Spinetal, and others birds more we´ll be observe: Gray Breasted Mountain Toucan, Scarlet Bellied Mountain Tanager, Peruvian Slaty Brushfinch, Barred Fruiteater, Lacrimose Mountain Tanager, Superciliated Hemispingus, Blue Banded Toucanet and Others after wel´ll continue our trip to way Satipo where is long way and there stay at Hotel in Satipo. After birding and traveling from Huancayo through Carrizales, stay at hotel in Satipo.

This day again we will return to Carrizales area by our vehicle for 4 hours where we have another endemic species we missed first day for example: Oxapampa Antpitta, Bay Antpitta, Peruvian Wren, Junin Tapaculo, Marcapata Spinetail, Junin Antpitta, Fire Throated Metaltail, and many more species, Leymebamba Antpitta, White Tailed Tyrannulet, Hooded Mountain Tanager, Barred Fruiteater, Grass Green Tanager, Yungas Pygmy Owl, Montane Woodcreeper, Golden Headed Quetzal, Andean Motmot, Saffron Crowned Tanager, Blue Banded Toucanet. After birding high part we return to lower elevation where we have great place for tanager, and others for example: Versicolored Barbet, Golden Eared Tanager, Golden Tanager, Montane Foliage Gleaner, White Collared Jay, Amazonian Umbrellabird, Green Jay, Collared Trogon, Dusky Green Oropendola, Andean Cock Of The Rock, Chestnut Crowned Gnateater, Blackish Antbird, Pearled Treerunner, Golden Olive Woodpecker, Blue Browed Tanager, Torrent Duck and White Capped Dipper. After birding we will return to Satipo and night stay at hotel. Night stay at hotel in Satipo after birding in Carrizales area.

This day we leave from hotel way to la Merced its aproximattly 4 hours by our Vehicle. And there we have a some Endemic Species of the Bird and very rares for example: Creamy Bellied Antwren, Masked Fruiteater, Bay Antpitta, and others. Chestnut Crested Cotinga, Black Winged Parrot, Blue Banded Toucanet, White Rumped Hawk, Blue Winged Mountain Tanager, Rufous Tailed Tyrant, Rusty winged Barbhtail, Oleagenos Hemispingus, Collared Inca Long Tailed Sylph and others an late we Will retor to Villa where Spend the Night at Hotel. Night stay at hotel in Villa Rica after birding journey to La Merced and Oxapampa.

Today we'll visit the Bosque Chulet where is 45 minutes from the Villa Rica Village. There we will look for Masked Fruiteater, Bay Antpitta, Rufous Vented Tapaculo, and more species. For example: Peruvian Tyrannulet, Paradise Tanager, Masked Tanager, Chestnut Crested Cotinga, Blue Capped Tanager, Blue Winged Mountain Tanager, Golden Headed Quetzal, Buff Browed Foliage Gleaner, Rufous Backed Treehunter, Leymebamba Antpitta, Rufous Tailed Tyrant, Saffron Crowned Tanager, Pearled Treerunner, Emerald Bellied Puffleg, Long Tailed Tyrant, Masked Trogon and many others species we'll observe during birding on roadside and later we will return to hotel. Return to hotel in Villa Rica after birding at Bosque Chulet and surrounding areas.

This day we will travel to Junin Lake with some stop in the way it’s approximate 5 or 6 our with stops in the way where we can observe some species of the birds and the we will arrive the junin there we have look for target species of the Birds and commons for example: Plumbeous Rail, Chilean Flamigo, Slate colored Coot, Ornate Tinamou, Black Siskin, Andean Goose, Black Breasted Hillstar, Junin Canastero, Dark winged Miner, Streaked Backed Canastero, Puna Ibis, Puna Teal, Andean Negrito, Paramon Pipit, Correntera Pipit, Common Miner, Bright Rumped Yellow Finch, Cream Winged Cinclodes and others after we go to Junin City where stay at Hotel. After birding at Junin Lake and en route, stay at hotel in Junin City.

This day we will visit the Junin Lake first we'll go by our vehicle and stop in the way for look the Junin or Black Rail considered Endemic, and after look the Rail we will continue by our vehicle and there we will take the Boat for 1 hour go into the lake where we look for Junin Grebe and others grebes. Silvery Grebe. White Tufted Grebe, Many Colored Rush Tyrant, Crested Duck, Andean Duck and many others species of the Birds. After we will return to our vehicle and then we will continue the trip to Huanuco. With some stops in the way and we will look for another Endemic, Rufous Backed Inca Finch, and another common birds after we will continue the trip to Huanuco where stay at hotel. Stay at hotel in Huanuco after birding at Junin Lake and traveling from Junin.

This we will leave again very early to Bosque unchug by our Vehicle for 3 hours and there we will have quit breakfas and the we will start walk direccion to Birding place we walk Little and them Walk down and there look for Edemics for Example: Golden Backed Mountain Tanager, Bay vented Cotinga, Pardusco, Neblina Tapaculo, Rufous Browed Hemispingus, Yellow Scarf Tanager, Chachapoya Antpita, Pardusco, Coppery Metaltail and others: Golde Collared Tanager, White Chinned Thistletail, Barred Fruiteater, Grass Green Tanager, Scarlet Breasted Mountain Tanager, Chestnut Bellied Mountain Tanager and many others. And after we return up the trail and we can have Picmic Lunch and after we will retorn to Huanuco where we spend second Night at Hotel. Return to Huanuco and spend the second night at hotel after birding at Bosque Unchog.

This day we will visit the Paty Trail where is from Huanuco 1:20 minutes and there we will have picnic breakfast and after we will start to walk down the trail where try to find target species for example: Bay Antpitta, Chestnut Antpitta, Orange Breasted Falcon, Leymebamba Antpitta, Trilling Tapaculo, Striated Antbird, Powerful Woodpecker, Gray Breasted Mountain Toucan, Hooded Mountain Tanager, Flame Faced Tanager, Saffron Crowned Tanager, Golden Headed Manakin, Rufous Chested Tanager, Pearled Treerunner, Tyrannine Woodcreeper, Barred Fruiteater and very rare or elusive Masked Saltator. And others many more birds we will observe there. After lunch, visit the Carpish Tunnel to look for Chestnut Antpitta, Golden Browed Chat Tyrant, Unstreaked Tit Tyrant, Schudis Tapaculo, Barred Fruiteater, Peruvian Slaty Brushfinch, Bar Bellied Woodpecker, Bay Antpitta, Chestnut Antpitta, Black Capped Hemispingus, Superciliaried Hemispingus, Blue Backed Conebill and many others. After birding, return to Huanuco for the night. Return to Huanuco and spend the night at hotel after birding at Paty Trail and Carpish Tunnel.

This day we will visit the Monte protrero Reserve where is 1:20 Minutes by our vehicle and there we will have Breakfast after we will visit the Monte potrero Great Place for Birding there we will see the some Endemic Species: Panao Antpitta, Brown Flanked Tanager, Rufous Backed Treehunter, White Collared Jay, Amthyst Throated Sunangel, peruvian Slaty Brushfinch, Rusty and Yellow Tanager, Masked Flowerpiercer, Blue Capped Tanager, Scarlet Bellied Mountain Tnager, Andean Guan, Curve Billed Tinamou, Line Cheeked Spinetail, Black Crested Tit Tyrant, Moustached Plowerpiercer, Tyrian Metaltail, and many others more we will be see after we will retor to Huanuco and estay Hotel. After this Birding we will Walk the trail for Golden Headed Manakin leck, Yellow lored Tanager, Fulvous Shrike Tanager, Black Facad Antbird and Many other species of the Birds so after birding we will retorn to Moyobamba and Spend Night Arena Blanca. After birding at Monte Potrero Reserve, return to Huanuco and stay at hotel.

This day we will leave from Huanuco very Early by our vehicle with many stops in the way where we´ll Breakfast and Birding, there Good to see the: Black Crested Warbler, rufous Browed Pepershrike, Line Cheeked Spinetail, Peruvian Sierra Finch Ornate Tinamou, Giant Coot, Streaked Backed Canastero, Crested Duck, and many Ground tyrants and Sierra finches. Late we will arrive to Huaras and Night Stay at Hote. Late we will arrive to Huaras and Night Stay at Hotel.

This morning we will have early breakfast and up the Abra Barro Negro and look for Species Tragets: Yellow Scarf Tanager, Chachapoya Antpitta, Many Striped Canastero, Neblina Tapaculo, Russet Mantlet Sofftail, Copery Metaltail, Utcubamba Tapaculo, White chinned Thistletail and Many other common Species and after this Birding we will retorn to Leymebamba for Lunch. After lunch in the afternoon we will visit the condor Cannon very Good Place To observe the: Red Hooded Tanager, Maroon Belted Chat Tyrant, Gray Breasted Mountain Toucan, Golden Headed Quetzal, Rainbow Starfrontlet, Yellow Breasted Brush Finch, White Collared Jay, Mountain Cacique and Many more species well see after this Birding we will retorn to Hotel in Leymibamba and spend Second Night. Return to Hotel in Leymebamba and spend second night after birding at Abra Barro Negro and Condor Canyon.

This day we will visit the near the Huaraz and look for another endemic and rares for example: Great Inca Finch, Rufous Backed Inca Finch, Creamy Bellied Canastero, Spot Throated Hummingbird, Purple collared Woodstar, Peruvian Meadewlark, Andean Tinamou, and others. After we will return at Huaraz for lunch and in the afternoon visit other places near Huaraz and look for more bird species, or relax at hotel.

This day again we will start very early and drive to Cajamarca with stop in the way where we will look for: Cajamarca Antpitta, Plain Tailed Warbling Finch, Rufous Eared Brush Finch and Rusty Crowned Tit Spinetail. We will visit Quebrada Choncha for Gray Bellied Comet, Black Metaltail and other common species. After visiting Quebrada Choncha, continue to drive to Cajamarca and take our flight to Lima.
