Itinerary

DAY 1.- CUSCO – NINAMARCA – PAUCARTAMBO CLOUD FOREST – BAMBU LODGE

5:00 a.m. We pick you up from your hotel by private bus. During the trip we stop at interesting places like the Chullpas of Ninamarca; These are pre-Inca tombs. The trip takes approximately 11 hours; The highest part on this route is 4000 masl.
In this trip we go through the Andes and the famous cloud forest that has very interesting flora and fauna, such as the Gallito de las Rocas, considered the national bird of Peru. In the afternoon we arrive at the village of Asuncion. Overnight at Bamboo Lodge in double rooms with private bathroom. Optional night walk.

DAY 2.- BAMBU LODGE TO THE DORADO HOSTEL

After breakfast, we continue our trip by bus to Atalaya, on the way we will stop to see Orchids. From Atalaya we take our motorized boat to DORADO LODGE, on the way we will see interesting birds such as herons, macaws, vultures and many flycatchers along the shores of the Alto Madre de Dios River. Overnight at the hostel “DORADO”. Optional night walk (to see tarantulas, insects, frogs, snakes, etc).

DAY 3: DORADO HOSTEL TO MATSIGUENKA HOUSE:

We leave very early at 5:00 am crossing the manu river, then continue our trip we stop at the Limonal watchpoint where they control the permits to enter the park, then continue our boat trip for approximately 6 hours inside the Manu National Park. During the trip we have the best options to see the famous Jaguar, capybaras, alligators, herons fishing on the banks of the Manu River, macaws, toucans, vultures, eagles and other bird species that will be displayed throughout our trip. We spent the night in the rustic house Matsiguenka in double rooms with shared bathroom. Optional night walk.

DAY 4: MATSIGUENKA HOUSE:

We leave early to explore the impressive Cocha (Lake) Salvador, where it is possible to observe the giant river otters (Pteronura brasiliensis), the great black Cayman, the different species of monkeys that inhabit Manu (13 species), the prehistoric bird called Hoatzin also known as prehistoric bird and many more species …
After lunch, we will visit Cocha Otorongo, here there is an observation tower to appreciate the lake, it is also possible to observe another family of giant river otters that lives in this lake. We spent the night in the rustic house Matsiguenka. Optional night walk.

DAY 5: MATSIGUENKA HOUSE TO MAQUISAPAYOJ:

We will leave very early to have the best opportunity to see the Jaguar as this is very difficult and rare to appreciate, the best time to observe the animals in the rainforest is very early in the morning and in the afternoon. The trip in the boat will be around 7 hours until arriving at Maquisapayoq (place where inhabits the Maquisapa or also call black spider monkey). We spend the night in the hostel Maquisapayoj, this hostel offers us double rooms with private bathroom and hot water. After we settled in the hostel we visited the tappa lick to watch them. Optional to spend the night there or return to the hostel.

DAY 6: MAQUISAPAYOQ TO COLLPA DE GUACAMAYOS AND COLLPA DE TAPIR:

At 4:40 a.m. We leave for the Macaws (we will have our breakfast here), the trip lasts 40 minutes by boat and 15 minutes by foot, where we will stand on a special viewing platform to see the macaws and parrots. The activity begins around 5:30 am with the small parrots and then the large macaws. Parrots eat clay that has minerals that aid digestion, which is why hundreds of parrots, parrots and macaws come to this particular place.
In the afternoon we return to Maquisapayoq Lodge where a delicious lunch awaits us. After a short break, we will walk through the forest about 1 hour and 30 minutes towards the Tapir Collpa known as Sachavacas, here there is a special observation platform to see Tapir (Tapirus terrestris). Tapirs are generally active at night for this reason we have mosquito nets with mattresses and blankets for the night.

DAY 7: MAQUISAPAYOJ TO CUSCO O LIMA:

Very early we will start our return to Cusco, we will go by boat to Colorado, sailing for the Madre de Dios River for approximately three hours, then an hour by car to Puerto Carlos, then crossing the Inambari River, where our private bus awaits us to take us back To the city of Cusco where our arrival will be around 7 pm approximately. The passengers who return by flight to Cusco or Lima will take them to the airport of Puerto Maldonado. Transfer from the airport to your hotel and dinner is on account of the passenger.
